Just as when the fans from the San Francisco 49ers were excited that Jimmy Garappolo’s tenure got extended for a year, they got bitter news today. Trey Sermon has been waived off from the team. This move was made by the San Francisco 49ers in order to create more room for other recruits.
Some of the transfers, waiver and exchange news keeps on surprising us. John Lynch who is the manager of 49ers had alsways been positive of Trey Sermon but things changed when he went under performance review.
Why did the San Francisco 49ers waive Trey Sermon?
As per the reports suggest, SF 49ers took this move for offensive lineman Blake Hance. He was earlier waived off from Cleveland Browns club. This roster move by the team was unprecedented as there are many rotations happening across the NFL.
The other team players also hold equal responsibility in Sermon getting waived off. Because as there was a vote of confidence, Trey didn’t get the support that he expected. Moreover, the 49ers strategy of planning was more into offensive than defensive.
The 49ers primarily had to take up this decision because of the performance that Sermon showcased. In addition to that, it was a tough choice for them to make between Sermon and Mason.
What else did the San Francisco 49ers trade?
The SF 49ers traded two fourth-round picks to trade up. Alongside, they also waived Sermon. They also added a No. 88 overall pick in the third round of last year’s NFL Draft in the trade.
Earlier they had traded running back JaMycal Hasty to Jacksonville Jaguars where they claimed it on Wednesday. This was one of the best decisions that both teams were quick enough to make the transaction.

What will happen after Sermon’s exit?
Nick Bosa will be managing the defensive end when the player exits. He is the only former Ohio State player in SF 49ers team list.
Jeff Wilson, Elijah Mitchell, Davis-Price and undrafted rookie Jordan Mason are the 4 halfbacks who will be accompanying the team in managing positions.
Having said that, there are high chances that Trey Sermon could return if he hasn’t been claimed by other waivers. This was one of the hardest decisions that San Francisco 49ers had to take in managing their roster. Because we saw Mason had made it to the team’s roster which was surprising. He is also equally struggling like Sermon but managed to stay afloat.
